About

Christa Emmerink, born in the Netherlands, started to play the harp when she was 8 years old. Besides the well-known harp compositions, her repertoire consists of world-renowned compositions that were originally not composed for the harp. She makes these compositions suitable for solo performances on harp. Bach, Brahms, Franck, Scarlatti and Shostakovich are just a few of the composers that can be found in Christa’s diverse repertoire.

As a life-long ambassador for the harp, Christa Emmerink is passionate and dedicated to make the harp stand out as a solo instrument. Her solo appearances in prestigious concert halls such as the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Tivoli Vredenburg (Utrecht) and several international festivals (World Harp Congress, Grachtenfestival, Dutch Harp Festival and others) and national radio programs, are testimonies of her talent to perform classical masterpieces to a wide audience.

With the highest distinction, Christa completed her master degree with prof. Erika Waardenburg at the Conservatory in Utrecht. Preceding her master, she studied her bachelor at the Conservatory of Groningen with Manja Smits. To further expand her horizon she participated in masterclasses hosted by the following international renowned harpists: Germane Lorenzini, Helga Storck, Naoko Yoshino and Natalia Shameyeva.

Christa is a distinguished harpist and has won several prizes at: Prinses Christina Competition and the Young Music Talent Foundation at ‘De Doelen’ in Rotterdam, where she received also the Donemus Award for the best performance of a Dutch composition. Winning these competitions enabled Christa to perform solo recitals, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Currently, Christa Emmerink is preparing the release of her next solo album ‘Moldau’ which is expected to be released in March 2022.
